ABOUT
Kate is a writer of children’s fiction.
Kate grew up in a country town in South-East Queensland. Her early years were full of books and wonderful storytellers. Kate’s Mum was a librarian who filled every room in her house with books. When the house was full, Kate’s family built an enormous shed in the backyard and filled it with books too (with a space for the mower). A true Aussie-style library!
Within the four walls of the shed, Kate climbed The Faraway Tree, explored The Secret Garden, conspired to turn The Witches into mice and waited patiently as Anne of Green Gable’s hair turned from red to auburn.
Kate has also been a scientist and a project manager. She has worked with fish, ants, prawns, chickens and even people.
She loves to read and write stories. Her inspiration is her great Aunt Rose – a true master storyteller – who’s stories left several generations of Kate’s family captivated, mesmerised, and at times, terrified!
Kate now lives in a beautiful bushland suburb of Sydney with her scientist husband and two sweet, energetic sons.
